Come Worship With Us, Sunday Mornings at 9:30

Join us at worship!
Sunday Worship Service, 9:30 am
Our worship seeks to provide an experience that respects and reflects our United Methodist and United Church of Christ connections.
Nursery care is available each Sunday for infants up to age three.
Children and youth are in worship through the Story for God’s People of All Ages, after which they depart for Christian Education (Sunday School) classes.
Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Children are welcome, with their parent’s permission, to participate in the sacrament.
The best way to find out about our worship is to experience it, so we invite you to be our guest soon. Visitors and newcomers are always welcome.

Kids4Peace News  submitted by Nancy Stone

My, oh, my, how things have changed with Kids4Peace!      Because Williston Federated Church has been so supportive of this organization, and I am entering my 8th year as

art teacher for the Vermont chapter, I shall try to summarize all the recent developments that, to be honest, have had our heads spinning in amazement!     When Kids4Peace first began, the intent was to give children respite from the violence in Palestine and Jerusalem by bringing them to a 10 day summer camp in the United States where they could feel safe and nurtured.  The kids were 10-12 years old of Muslim, Christian and Jewish faiths;  they and their Continue reading Kids4Peace News  submitted by Nancy Stone

Why do we "hide" the alleluia?

Picture2The omission of alleluia during Lent goes back at least to the fifth century in the western church.

The association of alleluia with Easter led to the custom of intentionally omitting it from the worship service during the season of Lent, a kind of verbal fast which has the effect of creating a sense of anticipation and even greater joy when the familiar word of praise returns.

We do not use it at church. We do not use it at home. We let itrest, as it were, during Lent, so that when it reappears on Easter, we may Continue reading Why do we "hide" the alleluia?

The Rainbow Quilt, by Nancy Stone

Picture1A few weeks ago, I was in a dark place wondering about the future if this church. It made me examine the depth of my connection to this church for 45 years.  I found it impossible to list all the reasons Williston Federated Church is at the core of my faith and community.

Last Sunday, I woke at 1:30 a.m. and never went back to sleep as I watched images of rainbow colors play across my mind.   Continue reading The Rainbow Quilt, by Nancy Stone
