- Description
-
- Purpose
- Distribute church mission funds according to our budget, review the programs we support, look for and publicize opportunities for members of the church to be personally involved in mission in the community as well as the world. Sponsor discussion of current social concerns issues and bring in speakers to elaborate.
- Mission Statement
- According to our church mission statement, “Our church is a community which responds actively to human need and it goes into the world to live lovingly and justly as servants of Christ.” As members of the Mission and Social Concerns Committee we are charged with being leaders in helping the congregation meet this statement, we have been working at several activities: distributing church mission funds according to the annual budget, reviewing the programs we support, publicize opportunities through a church bulletin board, newsletter and bulletins for members of the church to be personally involved in mission in the community, and sponsoring discussion of current social concerns issues.
- Needs
-
- Opportunities
- Learn more about the community’s needs, and world mission needs that are presented to us. Objectively decide how best to distribute the funds. Educate the congregation as to what choices they have to help those in need. Support ad hoc committees started with the intention to help a specific need.
We give continued service to organizations in need of volunteers.

- Purpose
- The over-riding objective of the committee is to encourage
people of the community in commitment to the Christian Faith. The committee
is responsible for keeping records of membership, baptism, weddings, and
funerals and reviewing and updating annually. We schedule, along with the
pastor, new member classes and reception of new members into the church.
We contact and follow up with those who want to become members and those
who are new to the church. We greet or recruit greeters for Sunday morning
as well as arrange for coffee fellowship after worship. We provide "gifts"
for first time visitors and activity bags for young children to use during
worship on Sunday mornings. The committee also ensures that monthly pot lucks
or other all church fellowship activities are sponsored by each of the standing
committees.
- Mission Statement
- We seek new folks by advertising in the Observer &
The Resource Directory (pg. 19). We welcome visitors warmly with a personal
greeting and a gift. We follow up with visitors by mail & by phone, extending
our welcome & invitation to be a part of our church community, where
we hope they will find fullness of life through Jesus Christ.
